There’s no denying we live in a global marketplace, where an Opel in Minsk is just as likely to contain parts from a Holden in Oz as a Honda built in Ohio is to have been penned by a designer in Tokyo. Automotive News used to publish a big map of the world listing all the carmakers from all the countries and cross-referencing who owned what and what platform was shared with whom. We haven’t seen one in decades, maybe because now everyone owns everything. Or so it seems.
Nonetheless, there is a good chance when a SEMAtite sees a Japanese car it could be referred to as “an import,” even though it was built in his own backyard by neighbors he sees at his bowling league every Tuesday night. And, frankly, we took so many pictures at SEMA that we ran out of categories, so this one is as good as any.
